To the Editor:
First I would like to address the constant abuse you have put on me as a volunteer fire fighter. I have been a volunteer since high school, started at age 16, leaving the department briefly to move to Texas. Volunteers protect and rescue the public on a daily basis. They receive very little monetarily but enjoy helping others.
Our town relies heavily on volunteers and I am very grateful for each and everyone’s efforts. It is my belief your stories would not have been front page if you had not been trying to sensationalize your articles. Recently, I was elected chief by the other volunteers.
Second, the court order was made without findings of abuse. My election not to go for a trial was an effort to get this gossip behind me. It seemed reasonable that a quicker end to this would be better.
Third, why is it necessary to also question if my child support has been paid? What does one have to do with the other? No support is owed to the Bristol firefighter nor do we have a child together. (For the record my child support is current to date.)
We are currently in an age where technology is abundant. We text, e-mail, etc. but not seeing that person in front of us we may forget and overdo the whole thing: text and send, text and send. How many of us are annoyed by the constant text of friends and family? What we should do is turn the phones all off as they can be addicting.
Someday we will all have been accused of harassment. There will be a camp for phone addictions. Tiger’s was sex; mine must be text.
I would like to think your paper more than a tabloid if it is at all possible.
