Verdant pastures and blossoming flower boxes aren’t the only evidence of spring: you can see it as the roads brim with the return of our seasonal neighbors and temporary visitors.
Once Memorial Day passes, it’s no secret that Lincoln County’s population swells and with that comes a few congested roads.
Route 1 in Wiscasset is famous for its miles of people both coming and going, but traffic builds down the narrowest roads in the county as well.
To best enjoy the best place to be in the summer, we ask our out-of-town friends to drive with respect and watch for people crossing the road in our downtown areas and other popular summer spots.
For those who aren’t from here but aren’t new either, this shouldn’t be a surprise – we issue a reminder of patience and safety every year.
For locals, remember that going the speed limit is always recommended, so when someone’s taking it a little slow on your way home from work, they’re likely enjoying the sights we’re lucky enough to see every day, and who can blame them?
Sometimes when someone is really in a hurry they’re easy to spot in your rearview. When this happens, it isn’t a bad idea to pull over and let them pass.
However you cut it, when you take to the roads, whether you’re from here or not, you’re taking people’s lives into your hands.
