During the recent legislative campaigns, we heard from Democrats and Republicans alike about the need to improve and promote career and technical education.
Now, we would like to see action on this issue.
Maine has a growing shortage of tradesmen and women.
Let’s train students who have the aptitude for and interest in these careers at a young age, so they leave high school with some credential and with a clear path to a job with great pay and benefits.
The jobs are there. Everyone seems to agree on the need. The only question is how to make it happen.
We hope our legislators will make this a priority when the 129th Maine Legislature reports for duty.
