We love Valentine’s Day. It is one of our top 10 favorite holidays.
If you are in a relationship, just think of everything your partner had to tolerate from you this year.
Valentine’s Day is a day to recognize and express our appreciation for their love/tolerance of us.
And what better thing to celebrate than love? When you think about other holidays, most are either historical or religious observances.
A holiday for love is something we can really celebrate, without a lot of hand-wringing about the “true meaning” of the holiday and the “right way” to observe it. You know, all the things we write about on other holidays.
We can hear the single folks groan and mumble about Valentine’s Day being a racket for Big Chocolate or the flower and greeting-card industrial complex.
But Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be only for romantic love. It can be a day to show love for family, community, even self. We could all use a little self-love from time to time.
