A 28-year-old Dresden man is being held without bail at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset after allegedly assaulting and attempting to strangle a woman the night of Sunday, May 8 at their home on Middle Road.
Jeffrey Peaslee was charged with class B domestic violence aggravated assault, a felony, and misdemeanor criminal mischief, according to Lt. Michael Murphy, of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies went to Peaslee’s home at 11:15 p.m. Sunday after the woman reported that Peaslee had assaulted her and then smashed the windshield of her car with a car battery, Murphy said.
The alleged assault reportedly followed an argument about whether Peaslee was too intoxicated to drive.
The woman showed visible bruising, the lieutenant said, but did not require medical treatment.
Peaslee, who allegedly had fled from the home before deputies arrived, was arrested at 7:30 a.m., Monday, May 9 at his parents’ home, also in Dresden.
A court date was not immediately available Monday afternoon.
