A Knox County grand jury recently indicted a Jefferson woman on three charges in connection with allegations of welfare fraud over an eight-year period, according to the Bangor Daily News.
Kelly Mann, 42, faces a single count of theft by deception and two counts of unsworn falsification.
“The indictment alleges that from Aug. 1, 2007 through July 31, 2015, Mann received food stamps and Mainecare from the state when she was not entitled,” according to the Bangor Daily News. “The state says she lied on applications, including by stating that her husband did not live at home with her. The amount of aid stolen totaled more than $10,000, according to the indictment.”
