A 33-year-old Lisbon man was arrested Friday, April 15 after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at another driver on Route 1 in Wiscasset.
William Dunton III was charged with felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and released from Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on $5,000 cash bail, according to Chief Deputy Brett Strout of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.
An 18-year-old Nobleboro man reported that afternoon that a man driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza tailgated and honked his horn at him as he headed south on Route 1 from Wiscasset into Woolwich, Strout said.
“The driver looked in the rearview mirror and Dunton had a handgun and was racking the slide forward, and the driver took it as a threat and called it in,” Strout said.
Bath police stopped Dunton on Route 1 near Burger King in Bath just after 3:30 p.m. An officer allegedly seized a loaded, semi-automatic gun from him.
Dunton is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on June 14.
