Maine State Police are investigating the death of a 33-year-old Wiscasset woman along Route 201 in The Forks early Sunday morning, March 20, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a news release.
“Detectives are looking into whether she may have jumped from a moving pickup truck driven by her boyfriend,” he said.
The deceased woman was identified as Kimberly Hill, McCausland said. The driver of the truck was identified as Tyler Poland, 29, of Greene.
McCausland said Poland called 911 shortly after 2 a.m. to report the incident. Poland said he had placed her in the back of the pickup and was driving south, according to McCausland.
Hill was dead when first responders met up with Poland’s truck in The Forks.
A team of state police detectives joined Somerset County deputies Sunday morning and a section of the road was closed for a time as investigators gathered evidence from the scene, McCausland said.
An autopsy was conducted on Hill’s body Sunday at the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta. The truck and other evidence from the scene will be examined at the state police crime lab, McCausland said.
