A 51-year-old Nobleboro woman was the victim of a fatal single-vehicle rollover on Route 1 in Damariscotta the afternoon of Wednesday, May 4, police said.
Alison Brewer was driving a 2010 Kia Soul north on Route 1 just north of the Damariscotta-Newcastle bridge at the time of the accident, according to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle drifted into the breakdown lane and Brewer overcorrected, according to the press release. Brewer lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to skid sideways, leave the road on the northbound side, strike the embankment, and roll over onto its roof.
“Mrs. Brewer was pronounced deceased at the scene,” according to the press release. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Lincoln County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the crash at 1:32 p.m., according to the press release. There were no witnesses to the crash.
Brewer was wearing a seat belt, and neither alcohol nor speed appear to have been factors in the crash.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Dennison was the primary investigator with assistance from Sgt. Matthew Day. Deputy Chad Gilbert is conducting a reconstruction of the crash with assistance from Deputy Aaron Beck. LCSO Chaplain Tom Wagers “assisted with this tragic event,” according to the press release.
The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service and the Damariscotta Fire Department also responded to the scene.
