A Waldoboro man faces three felony charges and a misdemeanor charge in connection with alleged sex crimes against a young girl in Waldoboro last winter.
Michael A. Stover, 58, faces charges of class B unlawful sexual contact, class C solicitation of a child to commit a prohibited act, class C visual sexual aggression against a child, and class D assault.
Class B and C crimes are felonies with maximum sentences of 10 years and five years in custody, respectively. A class D crime is a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of 364 days in custody.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective Scott Hayden arrested Stover June 21.
Stover will make his next appearance at the Lincoln County Courthouse at 1 p.m., Monday, July 11, for a hearing on a motion to amend bail.
Stover was released on $2,500 cash bail June 25. His bail conditions prohibit nonincidental contact with anyone under 18, and he cannot be within 100 yards of any place where children gather.
Assistant District Attorney Matthew Kanwit is representing the state. Bath attorney David Paris is representing Stover. Paris declined comment.
