The Wiscasset Police Department reports the following activity for the week of June 26 to July 2:
June 26: Officers responded to a burglar alarm at Big Al’s Fireworks Warehouse, responded to a burglar alarm on Cushman Point, responded to a report of a motorcycle with three passengers, and responded for a 911 check.
June 27: Officers warned a motorist for speed by North of the Border; responded to a report of a property-damage motor-vehicle accident on Main Street, but were unable to locate the accident; received a complaint of the theft of medications from a residence; and received a complaint of a suspicious substance in a child’s Kool-Aid.
June 28: Officers responded to assist a citizen on Freedom Song Lane, received a complaint of a lost wallet near the Nickels-Sortwell House, responded to a report of suspicious activity on Freedom Song Lane and Acorn Road, and responded to a complaint of unwanted, inappropriate text messages.
June 29: Officers responded to a complaint on Gardiner Road, responded to suspicious activity on West Alna Road, and received a walk-in complaint of vehicles over the weight limit on Federal Street.
June 30: Officers responded to a disabled motor vehicle on Bath Road, responded to a report of an unwanted subject at Naked Leather, and responded to a report of suspicious activity on Alna Road.
July 1: An officer responded to a motor-vehicle accident on Route 1. Claude Broutin, 78, of Westport Island, was driving a 2004 Lexus SUV and turning left onto Route 1 from the Ames True Value parking lot to head north. Broutin thought he had enough time to go when John Biron, 53, of New Gloucester, who was traveling south on Route 1 in a 2007 Kenworth truck, struck the side of his SUV. Both vehicles ended up across the center lane facing south into the northbound lane. There were no injuries.
Officers responded to a report of speeding traffic on Flood Avenue and a complaint from a citizen at Garden Island Cleaners.
July 2: Officers performed a vehicle stop and issued a warning for failure to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk, issued a warning for uninspected vehicle, responded to a report of an unwanted subject/suspicious activity at Garden Island Cleaners, responded to a report of an unknown/unwanted vehicle on Old Bath Road (towed to Blagden’s), and responded to a report of suspicious activity at Big Al’s Fireworks Outlet.
