Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Aug. 6, Deputy Kevin Dennison received a complaint of a theft of an older 24-foot Coachman, a dual-axle, tan camper (value: approximately $500) from a property in the Alna area. The camper had been towed to the site June 18 and when the complainant went to the camper Aug. 6, it was discovered that the camper had been stolen. Further investigation to follow.
Aug. 6, Jason A. Masciantoni, 45, of Worcester, Mass., was arrested for domestic violence assault, on Snowball Hill Road, Bristol, by Deputy 1st Class Mark Bridgham, who was assisted by Sgt. Matthew Day.
Aug. 8, Glenn A. Murdoch, 60, of Bremen, was arrested for operating under the influence, on Main Street, Newcastle, by Deputy Dennison.
On Aug. 2, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving Autumn C. Sproul, 16, of Waldoboro. Sproul was operating her 2014 Ford Fusion eastbound when she drifted into a driveway on the eastbound travel lane. Sproul overcorrected, skidded into the westbound lane, and again steered her vehicle to the right. Sproul overcorrected again, causing her vehicle to enter a ditch on the eastbound side of the roadway. Deputy 1st Class Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 3, an accident occurred on Ocean Gate Road in Southport involving Robert L. Campbell, 31, of Boothbay, and Meghan R. Thress, 43, of Needham, Mass. Campbell was operating his 2005 Ford F-250 northbound, towing a boat and trailer, when he struck a bump in the roadway and the rear axle with wheels came off his boat trailer. The axle traveled across the lane of traffic and struck Thress’ 2009 Mazda CX9, which was traveling southbound on Route 27. Deputy 1st Class Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 3, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Georgia G. Beauchemin, 66, of Lynn Haven, Fla. Beauchemin was operating her 2014 Toyota Sienna southbound when she thought she saw a cat in the roadway. Beauchemin swerved to miss the cat, causing her to cross the northbound lane. Her vehicle then left the roadway, striking several small trees and hitting the guide wire to a utility pole, causing the utility pole to split. Sgt. Day was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 4, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Jefferson involving Meghan I. Kothman, 24, of Jefferson. Kothman was operating her 2013 Ford Fusion northbound when she observed a turkey enter the roadway from the westbound ditch and fly into the driver’s side of her vehicle. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 4, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Amos N. Prescott, 91, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Ann N. Drum, 20, of Valley Spring, Calif. Prescott was entering the southbound lane from a parking lot in his 2008 Chrysler. Drum was operating her 2004 Toyota Scion southbound when Prescott failed to yield, causing his vehicle to strike Drum’s vehicle while Prescott was entering traffic. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 5, an accident occurred on Reed Rock Road in Dresden involving Joanna R. Piepgrass, 57, of Dresden, and Michael J. Christie, 24, of Richmond. Piepgrass was eastbound in her 1996 Toyota Camry, pulling out of Reed Rock Road onto River Road. Piepgrass did not see Christie heading southbound and pulled out into the path of Christie’s 2011 Ford F-350, which was pulling a heavy duty trailer. As a result, Piepgrass struck the right side of the trailer. Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 7, an accident occurred on Pond Road in Newcastle involving Larry A. Moulton, 48, of Searsmont. Moulton was operating his 2016 Harley-Davidson FLHX motorcycle westbound on Academy Hill at a high rate of speed when he attempted to stop at the intersection of Pond Road. Moulton braked hard, causing his motorcycle to lock brakes and skid, ejecting both the driver and passenger onto Pond Road. Deputy 1st Class Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 8, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Angela Alley, 44, of East Boothbay. Alley was operating her 2007 Toyota RAV4 northbound when she observed a deer enter the roadway from the southbound ditch and struck it. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
July 29, Elizabeth Lawrence, 62, of Beverly, Mass., speeding 71 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone, Route 1, Damariscotta, Sgt. Day.
July 30, Joseph Spector, 75, of Newcastle, speeding 44 mph in a posted 30 mph speed zone, Route 130, Bristol, Sgt. Day.
Raymond Larson, 54, of Downington, Penn., speeding 44 mph in a posted 30 mph speed zone, Route 130, Bristol, Sgt. Day.
Aug. 2, Jessica McIntosh, 33, of Chelsea, failure to show proof of insurance, Route 32, Jefferson, Deputy 1st Class Collamore.
Aug. 3, Cassandra Marie Bickford, 33, of Wiscasset, improper passing, Route 27, Boothbay, Sgt. Jason Nein.
Robert Campbell, 31, of Boothbay, towing an unregistered trailer, Route 27, Southport, Deputy 1st Class Mark Bridgham.
