Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Oct. 20, Randee W. Jarrett, 33, of Wiscasset, was issued a summons for driving to endanger, on Calls Hill Road, Dresden, by Sgt. Jason Nein.
Oct. 19, Henry D. Thompson, 30, of Newcastle, was arrested on a warrant for failure to pay fines and operating after suspension, on West Hamlet Road, Newcastle, by Deputy Ryan Chubbuck.
Oct. 21, Luke N. Dale-Smith, 31, of Jefferson, was arrested on a probation violation, on Waldoboro Road, Jefferson, by Detective Sgt. Ronald Rollins.
On Oct. 18, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Somerville involving Selina Brooks, 52, of Jacksonville. Brooks was operating her 2007 Honda eastbound when she struck a porcupine, causing her to go off the roadway and strike a rock. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 20, an accident occurred on Calls Hill Road in Dresden involving Randee W. Jarrett, 33, of Wiscasset. Jarrett was operating his 2003 Saturn Ion southbound at a high rate of speed. As he approached a sharp left turn, he continued straight, left the roadway, and struck an embankment. The vehicle then rolled and came to rest on its roof, facing north. All the occupants exited the vehicle and left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. Sgt. Nein was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 21, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Jacob E. Hiott, 23, of Manchester. Hiott was operating his 2006 Ford Freestar southbound when a deer ran into the roadway. Hiott swerved to avoid the deer and, as a result, struck a Central Maine Power Co. pole, causing it to snap. Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 21, an accident occurred on Somerville Road in Somerville involving Cierra L. Carle, 16, of Windsor. Carle was operating her 2011 Nissan Frontier southbound when she lost control of her vehicle and swerved to the left, then back to the right. Carle overcorrected back to the left and crossed the centerline. Her vehicle continued into the ditch and struck a large rock, then rotated 180 degrees and rolled onto the driver’s side door, while striking another large rock. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 21, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Mackenzie T. Abbott, 17, of Boothbay Harbor. Abbott was operating her 2001 Ford Ranger southbound when, due to an issue with the vehicle’s steering shaft, she lost control. Her vehicle then went off the roadway on the right and crossed the centerline before again going off the roadway on the right side. Her vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on the passenger side. Deputy 1st Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 21, an accident occurred on Route 27 (Wiscasset Road) in Boothbay involving David G. McFarland, 67, of Boothbay, and Stanley W. Lewis, 88, of Boothbay. McFarland was operating his 2005 Toyota Tacoma northbound, responding to a crash as a volunteer firefighter. Lewis was operating his 2016 Ford F-150 eastbound attempting to enter Wiscasset Road from the entrance to the Boothbay Fire Department. Lewis observed a vehicle traveling northbound yield to a northbound ambulance responding to the same crash as McFarland. Lewis failed to observe McFarland operating northbound behind the ambulance and, as a result, struck McFarland’s vehicle as he attempted to enter Wiscasset Road. Lt. Rand Maker was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 21, an accident occurred on River Road in Boothbay involving Larry Pinkham, 76, of Boothbay, and Annemarie S. Apollonio, 78, of Boothbay Harbor. Pinkham was operating his 2004 Ford Explorer southbound and had slowed to make a left-hand turn. Apollonio was following Pinkham’s vehicle in her 2000 Jeep and believed the operator was going to make a right-hand turn into a driveway. Apollonio went around Pinkham on the left side into the northbound travel lane. Pinkham then began to make a left-hand turn, which resulted in the vehicles making contact, causing minor scratches to both vehicles. Deputy Justin Drake was the investigating officer.
