Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On March 16, Deputy Aaron Beck was dispatched to a report of criminal mischief to several mailboxes in the Boothbay area. The complainant said he discovered several mailboxes were damaged at the intersection of Ocean Point Road and Royall Road. This case is still open.
March 20, a 14-year-old male juvenile from Newcastle was issued a summons for possession of marijuana, at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, by Sgt. Mark Bridgham.
March 16, Joshua D. Benner, 28, of Damariscotta, was arrested on a warrant for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and illegal possession of firearm, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Detective Terry Michaud, on behalf of Detective Jared Mitkus.
March 17, Heather L. Mansfield, 31, of Waldoboro, was arrested on four Knox County warrants, on Sara Lane, Waldoboro, by Detective Mitkus.
March 20, Michael A. Stover, 59, of Waldoboro, was arrested on a warrant for possession of firearm by a felon and violating condition of release, in Portland, by Detective Scott Hayden.
On March 14, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Russell J. Baillargeon, 58, of Bangor. Baillargeon was operating his 2014 Toyota Tacoma southbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Deputy Beck was the investigating officer.
On March 14, an accident occurred on Route 127 in Dresden involving Alexander P. Colon, 25, of Dresden. Colon was operating his 2008 Jeep Wrangler westbound when he saw a black truck with a plow attached, heading eastbound. Colon noticed the blade of the plow in his lane, so he slowed down and began to pull over to avoid contact, however, the unknown black truck’s plow struck his vehicle, causing damage to the driver’s side. The unknown truck slowed, but did not stop and continued toward Dresden. Sgt. Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On March 14, an accident occurred on Patterson Road in Dresden involving Shelly A. Loriot, 43, of Bowdoinham. Loriot was operating her 2007 Subaru Impreza northbound, heading toward the bridge, when her vehicle skidded on the snow- and ice-covered roadway. As a result, her vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the southbound ditch, where her vehicle struck a Central Maine Power Co. pole. The impact with the pole caused her vehicle to re-enter the roadway, cross back over the northbound lane, and come to rest on the embankment, off the roadway, facing northbound. Sgt. Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On March 17, an accident occurred on Crummett Mountain Road in Somerville involving Steven P. Jacobs, 36, of China. Jacobs was operating his 2008 Chevrolet 1500 northbound when a deer ran into the roadway and was struck. Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On March 17, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Holly G. Mudge, 70, of Boothbay Harbor. Mudge was operating her 2008 Honda CRV southbound when she rounded the corner at Newcastle Square and was forced off the roadway by an oncoming vehicle (unidentified). As a result, Mudge struck a snowbank and rock wall. Detective Mitkus was the investigating officer.
On March 18, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Kathryn L. Hartford, 74, of Boothbay, and Karen Sue Clarke, 67, of Jefferson. Clarke was operating her 2016 Toyota Rav4 northbound and Hartford was operating her 2014 Ford Fiesta southbound when Clarke crossed the center yellow line, due to sun glare, and struck Hartford’s vehicle. Deputy 1st Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
