Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On May 31, Deputy Chase Bosse was dispatched to a report of the theft of a 10-by-16-foot float (value: approximately $35,000) from a cove in the Southport Island area sometime over the winter. Further information will follow as leads develop.
On June 2, Deputy Bosse was dispatched to a report of criminal mischief and theft of metal car ramps (value: $50) from a residence in the Whitefield area. The complainant said that sometime around June 1, someone tampered with his solar panels and stole his metal car ramps. Further investigation will follow as leads develop.
June 1, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Edgecomb was issued summonses for theft by unauthorized use of property, failing to stop for officer, driving to endanger, and operating vehicle without a license, on River Road, Edgecomb, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.
May 31, Ariana L. Doherty, 31, of Boothbay, was arrested for domestic violence assault on Back River Road, Boothbay, by Deputy John Braley.
June 1, Shawn M. Gantnier, 29, of Belfast, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for violation of bail conditions, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, where he turned himself in on the warrant and was arrested by Deputy Braley.
On June 2, an accident occurred on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson involving Colby A. Robertson, 19, of Winslow. Robertson was operating his 2002 Toyota Camry northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the northbound ditch and was struck. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On June 2, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Ashley C. Taylor, 23, of Bristol. Taylor was operating her 2009 Subaru Outback northbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the right side of the roadway and made contact with a Central Maine Power Co. pole on the passenger side of her vehicle. Deputy Bosse was the investigating officer.
On June 2, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Jacob M. Harriman, 22, of Augusta. Harriman was operating his 2013 GMC Acadia eastbound when a deer entered from the westbound ditch and was struck. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
On June 3, an accident occurred on Calls Hill Road in Dresden involving Melinda A. Cherkis, 46, of Dresden. Cherkis was operating her 2012 Nissan Sentra northbound when her vehicle entered the shoulder and continued into the northbound ditch. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
On June 3, an accident occurred on River Road in Boothbay involving Eric C. Tibbetts, 27, of Edgecomb. Tibbetts was operating his 2002 Volkswagen Jetta northbound when a deer crossed the roadway and was struck. His vehicle sustained minor damage to the hood and driver’s side headlight. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
On June 4, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving Kari L. Robbins, 31, of Bremen, and Devin R. Scherer, 20, of Jefferson. Robbins was operating her 2015 Dodge Dart and was turning left onto Biscay Road. Scherer was operating his 2013 Ford Focus southbound on Route 32. As Robbins turned onto Biscay Road, she crossed over into the opposite lane. Scherer attempted to stop for Robbins’ vehicle, however, he skidded right onto Biscay Road in an attempt to avoid contact and both vehicles collided. Reserve Deputy Michael Elwell was the investigating officer.
On June 4, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Somerville involving Jonathan Ladd, 50, of Norway. Ladd was operating his 2017 Toyota Camry southbound when he stated that a vehicle passed him and then, due to oncoming traffic, swerved back into his lane. Ladd was forced to swerve to avoid hitting the other vehicle, causing his vehicle to go off the roadway on the right and enter the ditch. Deputy Poirier was the investigating officer.
