Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 1,320 calls for the period of Aug. 21 to Sept. 11. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 12,152 calls for service.
On Aug. 31, Deputy Kevin Dennison was dispatched to a report of a theft by unauthorized taking or transfer from a citizen in the Boothbay area. The complainant said she received a call requesting funds to bail her grandson from jail. After mailing half the amount requested, the complainant realized her grandson was not in jail and the call was a scam.
Sept. 1, Timothy J. Ferrell, 21, of Westport Island, was issued a summons for operating vehicle without license, on Doggett Road, Westport Island, by Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles.
Sept. 4, Joshua J. Sack, 41, of Vassalboro, was issued a summons for violating municipal shellfish ordinance, on East Branch Road, South Bristol, by Deputy Dennison.
Sept. 4, Benjamin I. Sack, 42, of Bristol, was issued a summons for violating municipal shellfish ordinance, on East Branch Road, South Bristol, by Deputy Dennison.
Sept. 5, Yasir A. Jamal, 25, of Augusta, was issued a summons for operating after suspension, on Rockland Road, Somerville, by Deputy Andrew Miner.
Sept. 5, Shawn M. Puckett, 40, of Newcastle, was issued a summons for operating under the influence, on Mills Road, Newcastle, by Detective Scott Hayden.
Sept. 9, Kenneth Greene, 59, of Jefferson, was issued a summons for operating under the influence, on Rockland Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Ryan Chubbuck.
Sept. 1, Seth M. Baker, 29, of Portland, was arrested for domestic violence assault, on Route 1, Newcastle, by Deputy Chase Bosse.
Sept. 5, Kodi E. Merrill, 33, of Waldoboro, was arrested for burglary, at the Waldoboro Police Department, Waldoboro, by Detective Sgt. Ronald Rollins.
Sept. 5, Carlton J. Elliott, 29, of Waldoboro, was arrested on a Lincoln County District Court warrant for failure to pay fines, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.
Sept. 8, James W. Crossley, 45, of Jefferson, was arrested for domestic violence assault, on North Clary Road, Jefferson, by Reserve Deputy Fowles, who was assisted by Sgt. Mark Bridgham.
Sept. 9, Kaitlyn Everett, 23, of Waldoboro, was arrested for unlawful possession of scheduled drug and violating condition of release, on Rockland Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Chubbuck.
Sept. 9, Dustin R. Prescott, 29, of Rockport, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drug, on Rockland Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Chubbuck.
Sept. 9, Nicholas J.H. Stoddard, 23, of Whitefield, was arrested for aggravated assault, on Cooper Road, Whitefield, by Deputy Bosse.
Accidents and vehicle fires
On Aug. 29, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving John R. Gordon, 64, of Boothbay, and James A. Peterson, 33, of Damariscotta. Gordon, who was operating his 2002 Ford Escort, began to turn left onto Route 1, but hesitated and stopped, partially in the northbound lane. Peterson was operating his 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass northbound, was unable to stop or swerve, and struck the front of Gordon’s vehicle. Deputy Miner was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 30, an accident occurred on Atlantic Highway in Waldoboro involving Kevin P. Labombarde, 23, of Waldoboro, and Samantha Abbott, 37, of Waldoboro. Labombarde was in a parking lot on the east side of Route 1 in his 2012 Nissan Frontier and was attempting to cross Route 1 to the gas station on the other side. A driver in the northbound lane stopped to let Labombarde cross. While crossing, he did not yield the right of way and was struck by Abbott’s 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, which was traveling south in the southbound lane. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 1, an incident occurred on Route 1 in Nobleboro involving Stephen R. Everts, 58, of Harpswell. Everts was operating his 2017 Toyota southbound when the bed of his truck caught fire. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 2, an incident occurred on Pine Road in Jefferson involving Kymberly L. Peabody, 28, of Jefferson. Peabody was operating her 2009 Dodge Journey northbound when it began to catch fire. Deputy Connor was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 2, an accident occurred on Thompson Road in Bristol involving Joyce C. Berry, 86, of Damariscotta. Berry pulled out of a private driveway in her 2010 Nissan Altima and over-accelerated, which caused her vehicle to go into the woods about 30 yards and strike a tree. Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 4, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Maggie M. Brown, 33, of Boothbay, and Mark S. Thompson, 67, of Knox. Brown was operating her 2012 Ford F-350 northbound and slowed for traffic turning left. Thompson was following Brown in his 2017 Dodge Promaster. He did not see Brown slowing and, as a result, he struck the rear of her vehicle. Deputy Bosse was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 4, an accident occurred on Benner Road in Bristol involving Constance P. Young, 68, of Bristol, and Sara L. Crooker, 38, of New Harbor. Crooker was operating her 2013 GMC Yukon northbound. Young was operating her 2006 Subaru Legacy southbound. As Young crested a hill, she drifted over the centerline and struck Crooker’s vehicle. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 7, an accident occurred on North Clary Road in Jefferson involving Maddy J. Lee, 21, of Augusta. Lee was operating her 2003 Toyota Rav4 southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the left side of the road and was struck. Deputy Colby was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 9, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Jefferson involving Kenneth Greene, 59, of Jefferson, and Dustin R. Prescott, 29, of Rockport. Prescott was operating his 2006 Chevrolet Uplander southbound, making a left turn into Peaslee’s Quick Stop. Greene was operating his 1991 Chevrolet northbound and had the right of way when Prescott pulled in front of him, causing a head-on crash. Deputy Chubbuck was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 10, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving James Becker, 45, of Bath. Becker was operating his 2012 Ford Focus southbound when he encountered a slowing red pickup in front of him. The pickup braked for another vehicle ahead and Becker had to swerve hard right to avoid contact. As a result, his vehicle went down into the soft shoulder off the road. Sgt. Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 10, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Nobleboro involving Michelle R. Beaulieu, 32, of Damariscotta. Beaulieu was operating her 2008 Chevrolet Malibu southbound when she lost control of her vehicle because a driver’s side tire was coming off. Beaulieu moved her vehicle to the breakdown lane, where it came to rest. Sgt. Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 10, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Margaret A. Gregory, 69, of Bristol, and Charles B. Kinnear, 76, of Morgan, Utah. Kinnear was operating his 2017 Chevrolet Colorado northbound. Gregory was making a left turn out of Massasoit Drive in her 2006 Subaru Forester. Gregory failed to yield and entered Kinnear’s lane of travel. As a result, Gregory struck Kinnear’s vehicle. Sgt. Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 10, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Robert E. Jacobson, 82, of Boothbay Harbor. Jacobson was operating his 2018 Toyota Corolla southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, causing his vehicle to cross the centerline and come to rest in the ditch. Deputy Connor was the investigating officer.
