Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 230 calls for the period of Oct. 2-9. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 13,337 calls for service.
On Oct. 4, Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was dispatched to a report of a burglary of a residence in the Edgecomb area. This case is under investigation.
On Oct. 7, Reserve Deputy Michael Elwell was dispatched to a report of a theft of tools and building materials from a residence in the Bristol area. Further investigation will follow if leads develop.
Oct. 5, Gregory J. Marancik, 43, of Jefferson, was issued summonses for operating under the influence and refusing to sign summons, on Jones Woods Road, Newcastle, by Deputy Chase Bosse.
Oct. 7, a Boothbay 17-year-old was issued summonses for operating vehicle without license and failure to register vehicle, on Pension Ridge Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Alonzo Connor.
Oct. 2, James A. Paterson, 33, of Damariscotta, was arrested on a Lincoln County warrant for failure to appear, at the Lincoln County Courthouse, Wiscasset, by Detective Jared Mitkus.
Oct. 2, Rena Whitney, 32, of Belgrade, was arrested on a York County warrant for violating condition of release, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy Julie Groleau.
Accidents and vehicle fire
On Oct. 2, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving Elyse R. Mead, 18, of Bath. Mead was operating her 2001 Toyota Camry southbound when she crossed the centerline, entered the northbound ditch, and struck an embankment. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 2, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving David Emerson, 61, of Waldoboro; Marissa J. Farnham, 20, of East Boothbay; and Stacy K. Moore, 34, of Topsham. Emerson was operating his 2004 Volvo 70 westbound on Eddy Road, turning left onto Route 1. Farnham was operating her 2011 Mini Cooper northbound on Route 1 and Moore was operating her 2011 Nissan Pathfinder southbound. Emerson struck Farnham’s vehicle and, when Farnham’s vehicle separated from Emerson’s vehicle, she went into the southbound lane, where Moore struck Farnham’s vehicle. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 3, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Nikolas A. Poland, 27, of Bremen. Poland was operating his 2003 Chevrolet 2500 southbound when a deer crossed the road, causing him to swerve to avoid it. As a result, Poland lost control of his vehicle, which crossed the centerline, went off the roadway on the left side, and came to rest between two trees, causing significant damage to the front of the vehicle. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 4, an accident occurred on River Road in Edgecomb involving Rebecca A. Burk, 39, of Jefferson. Burk was operating her 2004 Chevrolet Silverado southbound when she observed a deer in the roadway and was unable to avoid striking it. Deputy Colby was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 5, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Sara L. Caron, 67, of Newcastle, and Carolyn L. Samaras, 75, of Boothbay. Samaras had stopped her 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan in the southbound lane on Route 1, preparing to turn left onto Lynch Road, when Caron ran into the back of her vehicle with her 2012 Ford Escape. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 5, an accident occurred on Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield involving Jennifer R. Veilleux, 38, of Winslow. Veilleux was operating her 2012 Ford Edge southbound when three goats entered the roadway from the right side and one goat was struck. Deputy Colby was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 5, an incident occurred on Somerville Road in Somerville involving Edward L. Sweeney, 77, of Andover, Mass. Sweeney was operating his 2010 Ford pickup southbound when he attempted to make a U-turn and his front passenger tire went into the ditch. Sweeney reported sparks coming from the front passenger-side wheel well and, within minutes, the entire truck was on fire. Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 6, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Michael P. Cayer, 60, of Augusta, and Julianna R. Lafrenaye, 19, of Nobleboro. Cayer had stopped his 2008 Toyota Tacoma in traffic on the Route 1 off-ramp and Lafrenaye was exiting Route 1 in her 2009 Volkswagen Jetta and coming down the off-ramp when, because she had something in her eye, she failed to stop in time. As a result, Lafrenaye crashed into the rear of Cayer’s vehicle. Deputy 1st Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 6, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Cynthia A. Spencer, 70, of Woolwich, and David J. McKinnell, 34, of Cumberland. Spencer was following southbound traffic on Route 1 in her 2011 Saab 9-3 when she failed to see McKinnell’s stopped 2015 Subaru in the southbound lane. As a result, Spencer struck McKinnell’s vehicle in the rear. Sgt. Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 6, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Michaela H. West, 53, of Wiscasset. West was operating her 2009 Honda Pilot southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the east side and was struck with the front passenger corner of her vehicle, causing disabling damage to her vehicle. Deputy Miner was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 6, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Phillip Averill, 66, of Bristol. Averill was operating his 2014 Subaru Outback northbound when he encountered several deer in the roadway. Averill attempted to evade the deer, however, he struck one. Deputy Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Oct. 7, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Parker D. Long, 31, of Boothbay. Long was operating his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when a deer struck the driver’s side/back door. Deputy Connor was the investigating officer.
