Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 389 calls for service for the period of Feb. 5-11. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 2,218 calls for service.
Summons
Feb. 6, Robert W. Harvey, 25, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons for operating while license is suspended or revoked, on Pension Ridge Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Alonzo Connor.
Arrests
Feb. 10, Colby D. Stevens, 24, of Damariscotta, was arrested for operating under the influence, on Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, by Deputy David Bellows.
Feb. 12, Colter J. Leeman, 34, of Boothbay, was arrested for operating under the influence, on Back Narrows Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.
Accidents and truck fire
On Feb. 5, an accident occurred on Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield involving Jacob A. Lane, 17, of Jefferson. Lane was operating his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when he went over a bump in the road and lost control of his vehicle. As a result, he exited the road on the right, where he hit a tree and re-entered the roadway, causing damage to the front driver’s side of his vehicle. Deputy Chase Bosse was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Turner Ridge Road in Somerville involving Michael E. McCarty, 59, of Palermo. McCarty was operating his 2010 Ford Ranger southbound when two deer attempted to cross the roadway east to west. Both deer impacted the front driver’s side of his vehicle. Deputy Bellows was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Gavin B. Dumond, 18, of Jefferson. Dumond was operating his 2002 Volkswagen Golf southbound when, due to slush on the roadway, he lost control of his vehicle, which went off the right side and struck an old Central Maine Power Co. support pole, which was no longer in use. Deputy 1st Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Shawn R. Pitcher, 48, of Boothbay Harbor. Pitcher was operating his 2015 Nissan Altima eastbound, nearing the Cross Street intersection. An unknown vehicle pulled out of a parking area and Pitcher swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle. As a result, he struck a stop sign post at the end of Cross Street. Deputy 1st Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Dresden involving Jeremy E. Holt, 48, of Montville, and Shawn J. Lawrence, 31, of Augusta. Holt had parked his 2006 Honda Ridgeline in the Dresden Takeout parking lot, unoccupied. Lawrence had parked his 2012 Freightliner on the road, legally, with no occupants. Lawrence did not activate the parking brake and, as a result, the truck rolled down the slight incline and struck the side of Holt’s vehicle, causing damage to the center passenger side. Deputy Bosse was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Ocean Point Road in Boothbay involving Hans Storm, 40, of Mandeville, La. Storm was operating his 2018 Jeep Wrangler westbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 7, an accident occurred on Townline Road in Boothbay involving Jennifer L. Brewer, 40, of Boothbay Harbor. Brewer was operating her 2007 Toyota RAV4 westbound when she started to skid. As a result, her vehicle went off the roadway on the left side and struck a tree. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 8, an accident occurred on River Road in Boothbay involving Sally Monroe, 27, of Boothbay. Monroe was operating her 2017 Toyota RAV4 southbound when her vehicle was struck by a deer on the driver’s side corner. Deputy Connor was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 8, an accident occurred on Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson involving Duane M. Rolerson, 58, of Jefferson. Rolerson was operating his 2003 Subaru Forester northbound when a deer entered the roadway from the left side and was struck. Deputy Colby was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 10, an accident occurred on Egypt Road in Alna involving Matthew R. Gillespie, 16, of Wiscasset. Gillespie was operating his 1997 Mercedes-Benz southbound when he lost control of his vehicle, which went off the road on the left side and ended up in a ditch. Deputy Connor was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 10, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Catherine M. Rolerson, 66, of Jefferson. Rolerson was operating her 1999 Subaru Forester northbound when she saw two deer enter the roadway from the southbound ditch and run into the driver’s side of her vehicle. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 11, an accident occurred on River Road in Newcastle involving Jillian E. Leonard, 24, of Washington. Leonard was operating her 2015 Cadillac ATS northbound when a deer crossed the road in front of her vehicle and was struck. Deputy Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 11, an incident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Whitefield involving Jeffrey R. Burchstead, 45, of Wiscasset. Burchstead was operating his 2000 Ford F-250 southbound, towing a trailer full of hay, when he had a tire fail on his trailer. Burchstead pulled to the side of the road after a fire started in the hay. Once he was off to the side of the road, the fire spread to the truck, where it consumed the vehicle. Deputy Dennison was the investigating officer.
