Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 269 calls for service for the period of July 10-16. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 8,137 calls for service.
Summons
July 12, Zachary A. Argraves, 22, of Unity, was issued a summons for terrorizing, on Westside Road, Boothbay, by Boothbay Harbor Officer Aaron Beck, on behalf of Sgt. Kevin Dennison.
Arrest
July 12, Sonni Labrie, 29, of Nobleboro, was arrested on a probation violation, on Upper East Pond Road, Nobleboro, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.
Accidents
On July 10, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Jefferson involving Ryan J. Wiken, 23, of Readfield. Wiken was operating his 2005 Toyota Prius southbound when he lost control of his vehicle as he was distracted by reaching down for his coffee. As a result, his vehicle left the roadway on the left side, where the front of his vehicle struck a tree. Deputy David Bellows was the investigating officer.
On July 11, an accident occurred on Hendricks Hill Road on Southport Island involving Gunnila S. Whiting, 90, of Westwood, Mass., and Michael R. Allison, 41, of Morris Plains, N.J. Michael Allison had parked his 2019 Toyota Highlander in a parking spot at the post office. Whiting pulled into a parking spot to the right of Allison’s vehicle in her 2007 Volvo. Michael Allison’s passenger, Carol M. Allison, was outside the vehicle securing a child in a car seat on the rear passenger side of the Allison vehicle when Whiting opened her door to exit her vehicle. Whiting’s vehicle rolled back and the driver’s side door of her vehicle struck the open door of the Allison vehicle, briefly pinning Carol Allison between the door and vehicle (no injury) and causing damage to both doors. Detective Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On July 11, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Thomas E. Fraser, 32, of Topsham, and Kyle E. Morris, 26, of Turner. Fraser was operating his 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound and Morris was operating his 2011 Peterbilt truck behind Fraser’s vehicle. Fraser slowed down due to another vehicle failing to yield while entering the roadway from the on-ramp to Route 1. As a result, the front of Morris’ vehicle impacted the rear of Fraser’s vehicle. Deputy Bellows was the investigating officer.
On July 11, an accident occurred on Pond Road in Newcastle involving Joshua R. Teriault, 32, of Damariscotta, and Dennis J. Robertson, 51, of Greene. Teriault was backing his 2009 Toyota Tacoma from a private driveway. Robertson had parked his 2015 GMC truck on the side of the road to perform maintenance on the roadway. Teriault failed to see Robertson’s vehicle and, as a result, backed into the side of Robertson’s vehicle, which was unoccupied. Lt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.
On July 11, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Victoria Pittman, 69, of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Sarah Krouse, 30, of Brunswick. Pittman was stopped, heading northbound on Route 1, with her left turn signal on, waiting to turn into the parking lot of Mexicali Blues. Krouse was operating her 2010 Kia Forte behind Pittman’s vehicle and struck it from behind as she was attempting to pass on the right side. Deputy Andrew Miner was the investigating officer.
On July 11, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Zakia A. Thiesen, 30, of Waldoboro. Thiesen was operating her 2006 Toyota RAV4 northbound and was unable to avoid striking a turkey in the roadway, causing damage to the driver’s side front corner. Sgt. Jared Mitkus was the investigating officer.
On July 13, an accident occurred on Dock Road in Alna involving Bradford C. Rankin, 78, of Oakfield, and Lisa W. Dinsmore, 53, of Newcastle. Rankin was operating his 2008 Mazda northbound and attempted to make a left turn onto Head Tide Road. He pulled out into the path of Dinsmore’s 2017 Nissan Altima, which was traveling eastbound on Head Tide Road. As a result, Dinsmore struck Rankin’s vehicle on the front driver’s side corner, causing damage to both vehicles. Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles was the investigating officer.
On July 13, an accident occurred on Route 32 in Bristol involving Shirley A. Benson, 62, of Belgrade. Benson was operating her 1988 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when she traveled too far to the right, lost control because of the soft shoulder of the road, and was pulled into the ditch. Deputy Miner was the investigating officer.
On July 14, an accident occurred on Pond Road in Newcastle involving Alan F. Hargreaves, 51, of Newcastle. Hargreaves was operating his 2008 Hyundai Accent southbound when he saw a deer enter the roadway from the northbound ditch and struck it. Sgt. Dennison was the investigating officer.
On July 15, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Colleen Kinney-Mercer, 62, of Rockport. Kinney-Mercer was operating her 2013 Subaru Crosstrek southbound when a deer attempted to cross in front of her vehicle and was struck. Lt. Kane was the investigating officer.
On July 15, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Jefferson involving John P. Lough, 31, of Gray. Lough was operating his 2010 Chevrolet Express eastbound when a deer ran in front of his vehicle and was struck. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On July 15, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving John A. Allan, 74, of Bristol, and Cody J. Hartley, 18, of Damariscotta. Allan was operating his 2006 BMW Z4 southbound and Hartley was operating his 2017 Freightliner bus behind Allan’s vehicle. Allan activated his left signal and slowed down to turn left onto Old County Road. Hartley did not see the signal or see that the vehicle was slowing down. He pulled to the right to avoid a collision, but rear-ended Allan’s vehicle. Deputy Sean Pfahler was the investigating officer.
