Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Nov. 6, William R. Brewer, 29, of Newcastle, was issued summonses for failing to make oral or written accident report and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, on Hinks Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Jonathan Colby.
Nov. 7, Nathaniel J. Betts, 21, of Wiscasset, was issued summonses for failing to notify of motor-vehicle accident and operating after suspension, on Bradford Road, Wiscasset, by Deputy Chase Bosse.
Nov. 7, Samuel B. Farrin, 31, of Jefferson, was arrested on a Lincoln County warrant for failure to appear, on Alna Road, Wiscasset, by Deputy Scott Peterson.
Nov. 10, Brice Hibbard, 25, of Whitefield, was arrested on a Sagadahoc County warrant for an indictment charging operating after revocation and operating under the influence, by Deputy David Bellows.
On Nov. 5, an accident occurred on Route 17 in Somerville involving Richard B. Hopkins, 63, of Camden. Hopkins was operating his 1993 Volvo 240 westbound when a deer ran across the road and was struck. Deputy Peterson was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 5, an accident occurred on Hinks Road in Jefferson involving William R. Brewer, 29, of Newcastle. Brewer was operating his 2007 Honda Accord westbound on Gardiner Road when he went off the roadway on the right side, at the intersection of Gardiner Road and Hinks Road. As a result, he struck a rock and a 25-mph sign. Deputy Colby was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 6, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Robert D. Lacesse, 21, of Nobleboro. Lacesse was operating his 2017 Ford Fiesta southbound when, he said, he might have hydroplaned or fallen asleep. As a result, his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a stump, causing major damage to the front of his vehicle. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 7, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Annette B. Lane, 55, of New Harbor; Elenor R. Myles, 83, of Damariscotta; and Glenn J. Dwyer, 59, of Newcastle. Lane was stopped in traffic, westbound in her 2001 Chrysler Town & Country, by the Glidden Street intersection. Dwyer was entering Main Street from Glidden Street in his 2006 Pontiac Vibe. Lane waved Dwyer out of Glidden Street and he pulled out onto Main Street, where he was struck by Myles’ 2017 Subaru Outback, which was eastbound on Main Street. Dwyer’s vehicle was then pushed into the rear of Lane’s vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 7, an accident occurred on Bradford Road in Wiscasset involving Nathaniel J. Betts, 21, of Wiscasset. Betts was operating his 2006 Ford Focus northbound when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway to the right, and struck a utility pole. Deputy Bosse was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 7, an accident occurred on Bunker Hill Road in Newcastle involving Ward R. Burkhart, 56, of Albion. Burkhart was operating his 2013 Chevrolet Cruze westbound when a deer ran in front of his vehicle and was struck. Deputy Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 7, an accident occurred on Bath Road in Wiscasset involving Lakshmi N. Lescault, 43, of Boothbay, and Clint B. Martz, 40, of Hope. Lescault was in the left-turning lane in her 2005 Buick Rainier when she missed the left turn into the gas station on Route 1 northbound and decided to turn right, back into the northbound traffic lane, without indicating she wanted to return to the lane. As a result, she ran into Martz’s 2011 Toyota RAV4, which was also northbound. Deputy Peterson was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 9, an accident occurred on Eddy Road in Edgecomb involving Peter J. Verrill, 43, of Falmouth. Verrill was operating his 2019 BMW X5 westbound when he lost control, went off the road, and struck some rocks before the vehicle rolled on its side in the road. Deputy Peterson was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 10, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Stuart Brown, 61, of South Dartmouth, Mass. Brown was operating his 2017 Mazda 3 northbound when a deer entered the travel lane from a wooded area. Brown struck the deer and the deer then ran from the scene. Deputy Daniel Sceviour was the investigating officer.
