Accidents
Oct. 24: Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 2:03 p.m. Bruce Elfast, 76, of Tenants Harbor, was driving a 2011 Toyota sedan north on Atlantic Highway, slowing down for stopped traffic at the intersection of Winslows Mills Road. Thomas Forti, 79, of Bremen, had parked a 2010 Jeep utility vehicle near the pumps at a gas station off Atlantic Highway. Elfast said his brakes failed and he swerved into the gas station’s parking lot to avoid striking vehicles stopped in traffic ahead of him. The Elfast vehicle struck the Forti vehicle, then the Elfast vehicle continued through the parking lot, striking a large rock before coming to rest.
Oct. 29: Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on Finntown Road at 7:54 p.m. Cameron Pease, 20, of Cushing, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Finntown Road, making an improper pass. Logan Macdougall, 18, was driving a 2007 Mercury sedan. Pease pulled in front of Macdougall, then applied the brakes, causing the Macdougall vehicle to go off the road and strike a utility pole.
Oct. 31: Officer Justin Hills investigated an accident on Orff’s Corner at 11:48 p.m. Glenn Dever, 56, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2018 Dodge pickup north when a deer ran into the vehicle, causing damage.
Nov. 1: Chief John Lash investigated an accident in the Hannaford Supermarket parking lot at 11:02 a.m. Rosemary Mancini, 72, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck. Catherine Hopler, of Waldoboro, had legally parked a 2006 Toyota sedan. Mancini started from a parked position, failed to keep in the proper lane, and struck the Hopler vehicle, causing damage.
Nov. 1: Officer Bartunek investigated an accident at the intersection of Atlantic Highway and Washington Road at 8:32 p.m. Ryan Harding, 17, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Ford sedan north on Atlantic Highway when he made a left turn onto Washington Road. He was driving too fast for road conditions, lost control, and went off the road.
Nov. 16: Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on Friendship Road at 1:27 p.m. Sanford Winchenbach, 56, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup. Johnna Dehlinger, 55, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2014 Land Rover utility vehicle. Winchenbach backed out onto Friendship Road while plowing and failed to yield the right of way to the oncoming Dehlinger vehicle.
Nov. 17: Sgt. Wilson investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 4:14 p.m. Matthew Benner, 40, of Jefferson, was driving a 2010 Ford pickup truck south on Atlantic Highway behind Stuart Feldpausch, 27, of South Thomaston, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck. Feldpausch slowed when a vehicle in front of him slowed to make a right turn. Benner was following too closely and rear-ended the Feldpausch vehicle, causing damage to both vehicles.
Nov. 18: Officer Bartunek investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 5:07 a.m. Lisa Henny, 54, of Nobleboro, was driving a 2016 Ford utility vehicle east when a deer ran into the roadway, striking the vehicle.
Nov. 20: Officer Bartunek investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 6:23 p.m. Richard Baker, 75, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1990 Chevrolet van west when he lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the road.
Nov. 21: Officer Andrew Santheson investigated an accident on Kaler’s Corner Street at 9:09 a.m. Nevins Bartolomeo, 31, of Portland, was driving a 2014 Honda sedan. Lorraine Hayden, 82, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2011 Ford sedan. Bartolomeo was exiting the Hannaford parking lot, making a left turn onto Kaler’s Corner Street. Bartolomeo did not see Hayden approaching from his right on Kaler’s Corner Street. Bartolomeo pulled out in front of Hayden.
Nov. 23: Officer Fuller investigated an accident on Old Augusta Road at 9:58 a.m. Timothy Aho, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1995 Volvo utility vehicle when it slid off the road due to slippery road conditions, striking a telephone pole, stone wall, several trees, and a fence. The vehicle came to rest on a stump between two trees.

Nov. 3: Officer Hills investigated a report of a theft of $200.
Nov. 10: Officer Fuller investigated a report of a theft of checks.
Nov. 24: Officer Fuller investigated a report that someone broke some windows in a trailer.
