Mook Sea Farms, Inc. has applied to the Department of Marine Resources for a limited-purpose (3-year, experimental) aquaculture lease on a 4-acre site located west of Miles Hospital (Days Cove), Damariscotta River, Damariscotta, Maine for suspended culture of American/Eastern oysters, bay scallops, and surf clams. Other compatible uses of the area would be permitted. The application is posted on the DMR website at http://www.maine.gov/dmr/aquaculture/leases/pending/index.html.
The Commissioner announces a public comment period for this application. A public hearing is required only if requested in writing by five (5) or more interested persons prior to the comment deadline.
