The Commissioner is considering an application to renew for three years to September 30, 2019 a 1.79 – acre lease, DAM LW2, located in Lowe’s Cove, Damariscotta River, South Bristol, held by the Darling Marine Center of the University of Maine for the purposes of cultivating American/Eastern oysters, European flat oysters, sea scallops, blue sea mussels, soft clams, northern quahogs/hard clams, Atlantic razor clams, surf/hen clams, artic surf clams, sugar kelp, fingered/horsetail kelp, winged kelp, and dulse using bottom and suspended culture techniques.
The lessee would be bound by the terms and conditions of the existing lease. A public hearing is not required unless requested by twenty-five (25) or more interested persons. Written comments or requests for a hearing, including a statement of the reasons for the request, must be submitted on or before August 16, 2016 to the address below.
