The Great Salt Bay Sanitary District gives notice to the public that on September 13, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. at the Great Salt Bay District Office, a public hearing will be held to discuss and hear comments on a proposed water rate increase.

Public Fire Protection rates are determined pursuant to Chapter 69 of the Public Utilities Commission Rules. The District plans to request that the Commission waive the requirements of the rule for this rate increase, as it has allocated an increase that is less than the rule requires based upon the Public Fire Protection calculation.
Rates will be effective on January 1, 2018. The District’s last rate increase for metered customers was in September of 2009, and since then the District has experienced continued increases in annual expenses.
Pursuant to 35-A MRSA Section (6104-A), a customer has the right to request additional information relating to the present and proposed rates from the District, the right to an open and fair hearing, and the right to assistance from the Public Advocate.
A copy of material supporting the proposed rate changes will be available at the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District Office for inspection on and after August 14, 2017.
