The Selectmen have called a Special Town Meeting at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Alna Meetinghouse to act on several articles including:
1. Authorization to issue a bond to cover the cost of the new town office. (This is a technical article required by the Maine
Bond Bank and replaces the general borrowing authorization approved at the March, 2018 Annual Meeting. No new borrowing
authority is being requested.)
2. Authorization to transfer existing funds from the Sand and Salt Building Reserve Account to an operating account to fund repairs on the sand and salt shed.
3. Authorization to transfer from the Historical Building Maintenance Reserve Account to an operating account to fund maintenance of town buildings.
4. Authorization for town officials to appropriate up to $300,000 from the Town’s revenues, in addition to excise taxes, to reduce property taxes.
5. Authorization for the Selectmen to appropriate the unused portion of the Revaluation Account to reduce property taxes.
6. Requested approval of several proposed amendments to the town’s Building Code Ordinance and Subdivision and Site Plan
Review Ordinance, as recommended by the Planning Board.
