The Newcastle Select Board has scheduled a Special Town Meeting to be held on March 23, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Newcastle Fire Station Community Room, located at 86 River Road to vote on the following:
ARTICLE 1: To elect a moderator by written ballot to preside at said meeting.
ARTICLE 2: Shall the Town authorize the Select Board to amend the Agreement for a Joint Ambulance Service By the Towns of Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Newcastle and Nobleboro, and South Bristol and to authorize the Select Board to execute any and all documents necessary to effectuate said amendment.
ARTICLE 3: Shall the Town vote to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds and/or bond anticipation notes in the aggregate principal amount of up to $600,000 for the purpose of financing paving and road reconstruction projects throughout the Town as identified in the Town’s FY25 Capital Road Program, with the dates, maturities, denominations, interest rate(s) and other details of such borrowing to be determined by the Municipal Officers, and to see if the Town will vote to appropriate the proceeds of said bonds or bond anticipation notes for the foregoing projects, plus an amount necessary to refund the interest payments on any bond anticipation notes issued for said purpose and any costs of issuance of the bonds and/or bond anticipation notes?
ARTICLE 4: Shall the Town vote to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds and/or bond anticipation notes in the aggregate principal amount of up to $400,000 for the purpose of financing the purchase of a KME Pumper Fire Truck, with the dates, maturities, denominations, interest rate(s) and other details of such borrowing to be determined by the Municipal Officers, and to see if the Town will vote to appropriate the proceeds of said bonds or bond anticipation notes for the foregoing projects, plus an amount necessary to refund the interest payments on any bond anticipation notes issued for said purpose and any costs of issuance of the bonds and/or bond anticipation notes?
