Reading Dr. Seuss aloud
Congratulations to Sophia, who won the raffle for Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose!
On March 2, we were fortunate to have volunteer readers visit classrooms to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday through the Success by 6 Community Read Aloud program. Thank you to all the volunteers who took the time to share their love of books with our students. Dr. Seuss-themed games were enjoyed in the library as well as many of his books. Sophia won the raffle for a Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose stuffed animal.
Yearbook cover contest
It’s yearbook cover contest time! The cover can either be handmade or digitally created. It must include the school year, 2016-2017, the name of the school (Bristol Consolidated School or BCS), and must be in portrait form. Please do not use the word “yearbook.” We would also like the cover to represent the town of Bristol or our school. The winner will receive a free yearbook and a $10 gift card to Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop. All entries must be handed in to Kandi Kinney by Wednesday, March 22. Multiple entries by one person are allowed.
Dodgeball tournament
People are encouraged to get a dodgeball team together to help the school raise funds for the 2017 Merritt Brackett Lobster Boat races at a dodgeball tournament. The tournament will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 25 at Bristol Consolidated School. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
Adult teams will be limited to 12 teams; grades nine through 12 and grades five through eight will be limited to six teams. All divisions will play a double-elimination tournament. Each team will consist of six players and a minimum of one female per team. The cost to register adult teams is $12 per person; the cost for youth teams is $6 per person. Preregistration is suggested.
New this year will be special guest Don Carrigan from Channel 6 news. Prizes will be offered for the Best Team Costumes and Best Team Uniforms. Get silly, get clever, and get on TV! An awards ceremony will follow directly after the tournament at The Harbor Room in New Harbor.
