The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta is offering a free program called Stay and Play for children in grades two through six and their parents on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through May. Tennis, art projects, homework and reading help, and a healthy lunch are offered. Call to artists
Artists are invited to submit work for the upcoming “Young Hearts” art show at the Tidemark Gallery in Waldoboro. The gallery is seeking submissions in any media, made by pre-K through sixth-grade Miller School students. Work can be submitted to Nathan Fogg in the art room. All submissions are due by Monday, Feb. 6. The “Young Hearts” art show will be on display at the Tidemark Gallery from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 (snow date: Feb. 10). The “Young Hearts” art show will include work that students have done in their art special, in addition to student submissions.
Waldoboro K-2 basketball registration opens
The Waldoboro Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the kindergarten through second grade youth-basketball program. Volunteer coaches are needed. The program is open to boys and girls and focuses on the basic skills of basketball, including ball control, passing, shooting, and defense. Scrimmages will be worked in as the season progresses. Players will meet in the Miller School gym on Saturdays beginning Feb. 4. The program will end March 25. Schedules will be provided on the first day. The cost of the program is $25 for Waldoboro residents and $35 for nonresidents. Registration forms are available at the Waldoboro town office or online at waldoboromaine.org. Completed forms and payment may be dropped off at the Waldoboro town office or mailed to the Waldoboro Recreation Department, P. O. Box J, Waldoboro, ME 04572. Open gym
The PTO is hosting kids open gym in the Miller School gymnasium from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28. Parents and guardians should plan on staying with their children. A few balls will be available but people are encouraged to bring their own ball.
Medomak Valley Pee-Wee Wrestling
Medomak Valley Pee-Wee Wrestling has begun at Medomak Middle School. The program is open to RSU 40 boys and girls grades pre-K through four. Participants will meet Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. There is a $10 participation fee, with checks made payable to Medomak Valley All-Sports Boosters. Box Tops for Education
Congratulations to box-top winners Arie and Grady. They should stop by the school office to pick a prize from the treasure chest.
Valentineʼs Day fundraiser
The Miller School LEAD program will be selling carnations on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 8:30-9 a.m. by the school library. All proceeds will go toward funding new Special Olympics T-shirts for the LEAD program students. We will have white, pink, and red carnations available for $1.50 each.
