From the principal
Dear Parents,
SBS staff is in the process of revamping our Code of Conduct guidelines for students. We are defining behaviors we want to see in our students in and out of the classroom, and developing a set of consequences for students who stray from these expected behaviors. Once we rebuild our system, we will unveil these expectations to the students and work collaboratively to be consistent across all classrooms. When the system becomes final, we will share this with the all parents. You may be asking yourself, “Why are they revamping what they have in place now?” The answer is simple. It is not working.
There are too many inconsistencies throughout the school, and student behavior has escalated. We have seen an increase in disrespectful behavior, sarcasm, refusal to follow adult requests, and more. These behaviors are making it more difficult for our teachers to educate and for our students to learn. We need to address these in a constructive manner and we will do just that. Staff is committed to working together to come up with a system which reinforces positive behavior and holds students accountable in a meaningful manner. We will certainly need your help with this as well as we tighten up our expectations.
Thank you for your understanding,
Scott White
