According to commercialfreechildhood.org, children ages 2-5 average 2.2 hours per day of screen time. This significantly delays language and social development. Children ages 8-18 consume an average of 7 hours and 11 minutes of screen media per day! What should parents do? Set limits on how many hours per day of media your child uses: for ages 2-5, one hour per day with adult supervision to help process the content. For ages 6-17, parents should designate media-free times, ensure that students don’t use their devices while going to bed, and hold regular discussions about online citizenship and safety.
