Those 19 and older who are planning to go to college but don’t know where to start can benefit from one-on-one counseling, mentoring, and support through the Lincoln County College Connection, or TLC3.
TLC3 gives one support from start to finish with free academic courses that prepare one for college placement tests and set one up for success in the college classroom. The program offers career counseling and decision-making with a personal college coach to help one figure out what one wants to do and offer free college visits and tours. Finally, TLC3 provides follow-up and support to ensure one’s continued success once one is enrolled in college.
For those who are worried they don’t have the time or money to attend college, TLC3 offers flexible schedules and locations that work. Both morning and evening courses and learning center times are offered in Damariscotta, Waldoboro, Wiscasset, and Boothbay Harbor, with ongoing personalized advising and support. TLC3 will also walk participants through getting the money they need to attend college. A college coach will help one fill out financial aid forms and assist with every step of the college admissions process.
Go to Central Lincoln County’s website, clc.maineadulted.org, and/or call 563-2811 for more information and to register. TLC3 is currently registering students for the winter/spring 2018 semester. Classes will begin the week of Monday, Jan. 22.
