The American Legions won the Lincoln Little League championship on May 13 at Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta. The Legions jumped out to a 6-0 lead then held off the Rotary Wheels in late innings to win 8-4. Starting pitcher Andrew Greenleaf collected the win.
The Legions scored five runs in the first inning on four walks and a big double from Zach Tozier. They added a run in the third on a walk to Brad Cross and single to Jason Greenleaf. Cross singled and A. Greenleaf doubled and both scored in the fifth inning.
Dylan Soohey singled and scored for the Wheels in the fifth inning. The Wheels rally fell short in the sixth with three runs. Sam Laemmle singled, Tiger Cummings and Soohey walked, and all three scored.
Hitting for the Legions were A. Greenleaf and Tozier with a double each, and Chris Sullivan, Cross and J. Greenleaf with a single each. Cross scored three runs and Sullivan, Josh Tomasello, A. Greenleaf, J. Greenleaf and Tozier one each.
Hitting for the Wheels were Laemmle with two doubles and a single and Wyatt Poland a single. Dylan Soohey scored two runs and Laemmle, Cummings and Poland one each.
