The fifth running of the 5K at the DRA is Sat., Aug. 25, hosted at the Damariscotta River Association’s Great Salt Bay Farm on Belvedere Road in Damariscotta.
The race benefits the Lincoln Academy boys’ and girls’ swim team.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the 5K race beginning at 9 a.m. A preview walk for those wishing to see the course in advance takes place at 8:15 a.m. Walkers start off at 8:30 a.m.
Entry fee is only $10 for either the run or walk. Special pricing is available for teams of five or more.
The course is completely off-road on a maintained path through the DRA’s fields. The race is a measured 5K.
Runners will enjoy open fields overlooking the bay and be challenged by the steep sledding hill.
Walkers complete one loop for a 2.5K fitness and nature walk. Friends and family will be able to view much of the race from the DRA’s lawn. All participants are entered to win raffle prizes to be awarded after the walkers finish.
Everyone is welcome to come early and explore the other trails, observe the freshwater wetland, salt marsh and rest on the benches by the water. It’s a fantastic way to end the summer so come on out.
