With the increasing popularity of stand up paddleboards, the Sheepscot River Race, on Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m. will have categories for under 12-foot and over 12-foot Paddleboards this year.
Race director Scott Shea said, “Last year we had one entry who finished a respectable fourth place overall. The paddleboard designs are quite impressive. I expect quite a few more racers standing up this year.”
This is a scenic six-mile flat water race that begins at the Wiscasset Waterfront and ends at the Sherman Lake/Marsh rest area in Newcastle. Registration begins at the Wiscasset waterfront at 8:30 a.m. or contact Scott & Seaspray Kayaking directly at 751-3450.
