Three Medomak Valley wrestlers placed at the Eastern Maine Class B championships, held at Medomak Valley on Saturday, to qualify for the State Class B championships to be held at the Augusta Civic Center on Feb. 7.
Ben Lufkin (112) placed 2nd, Steven Genthner (145) placed 2nd and Cheyenne Augustine (119) placed 3rd at Regionals and will represent the Panthers at the State championships.
Belfast won the East Class B championships with 208.5 points, followed by Camden 190, MCI 90.5, Caribou 82, MDI 70, Ellsworth 70, Winslow 67, Hermon 56.5, Medomak 47, Central 20, Mt.View 19, Old Town 18, Sumner 18 and Waterville 12.
Lufkin (112) drew a bye in the first round of the 16 man bracket, beat Hurtado (Wat) by 13-11 decision, and pinned Wood (Car) in 55 seconds to advance to the championship round. Lufkin lost a 17-3 major decision to Young (Bel) in the finals for second place.
Genthner (145) drew a bye in the first round, pinned Ouellett (MCI) in 1:33, and pinned Andres (Her) in 55 seconds to advance to the finals. Genthner lost a 12-4 major decision to Powers (CH) to take second.
Augustine (119) drew byes to the semifinals, was pinned by Bragg (CH) in 4:30, got a bye to the consolation finals where she beat Green (Car) by 10-7 decision to place third.
Nathaniel McBrien (125) was pinned by Brewer (Car) in 1:37 and was pinned by Cassidy (CH) in 2:02. Zach Gillespie (130) was pinned by Robbins (Bel) in 2:00 and was eliminated by Russell (MC) by 15-9 major decision. Taylor Olsen (135) lost a 16-4 major decision to Pelletier (MtV), won by pin over Tibbetts (MCI) in 2:37, and was eliminated by Hodgkins (MDI) by pin in 2:35. Adam Lynch (140) was pinned by Simpkins (CH) in 2:55, and eliminated by Fitjuris (Bel) by 14-0 major decision. Jonathan Storer (171) was pinned by Clark (Win) in 1:30, and was eliminated by Weiss (CH) by pin in 3:21. Gabriel Delano (189) was pinned by Larry (OT) in 1:54, and was eliminated by Graffam (CH) in 2:12.
