Popular baseball coach, and long time freshman basketball coach Ryan Ball, has taken over the helm of the Lincoln Academy varsity boys basketball team this season. Ball brings
new energy and a positive spirit to the team.
Last season the team went 9-9 and lost to York in the West Class B preliminaries. The Eagles return three of their five top scorers, including Sawyer Pinkham, Devin
Scherer, and Brady Leeman. Top scorer Seward Matel and fourth leading scorer A.J. Oliver graduated.
“We are having a lot of fun,” Ball said. “We are running a lot of fast pace transition and half court trap. We are having a lot of fun with that. When we can’t
transition, we settle down and run our offense.”
The Eagles tackle five of the KVAC’s top teams in their first two weeks of the season. They open on Friday, Dec. 5 at Morse. Their home opener is Tuesday, Dec. 9
against Camden.
Although the Eagles starting five have experience, the bench is green when it comes to varsity play. Two freshman made the varsity cut, including Taylor Holmes and
Nate Masters. They are joined by three sophomores John Henry, Riley Cushing, and Cody Tozier
Playing varsity this season at Lincoln are Brady Leeman, Sawyer Pinkham, John Henry, Avery Hodous, Devin Scherer, Taylor Holmes, Travis Creamer, Cole Leeman, Nate
Masters, Riley Cushing, Cody Tozier, and Tyler Stevens.
