Medomak Valley track and field athlete Morgan Baum won the KVAC javelin championship Saturday at Morse. Baum threw the javelin 111’1″, beating out nearest competitor Meghan Wolfe of Winslow by over 10 inches. Baum was runner-up in the shotput (29’1″) and took third in the discus (95′). Baum registered personal bests in all three events.
Medomak girls placed sixth out of 14 teams. Waterville won with 165, Winslow 100, Leavitt 44.5, Nokomis 44, Belfast 38, Medomak 34.25, Maranacook 34, Gardiner 31, MCI 24, Erskine 24, Mt. View 20.25, Camden 12, Rockland 11, and Lincoln 7.
The Panther girls’ 4×800 relay team placed second and set a Medomak Valley High School record in 10:26. Kiana Ocean, Megan Wyllie, Taylor Keefe and Gwen Moiles ran a leg in the event.
Moiles placed fifth in the 1600 with a personal best time 5:35. Ocean (eighth in 5:40) and Nicole Weaver (ninth in 5:44) also scored personal bests in the 1600. Charlotte Martin placed sixth in the high jump (4’6″) Ashley Rackliff took eighth in the 400 in a personal best time of 1:07.27.
Medomak’s 4×100 relay placed eighth in 56.76, a career best time with Julie Ennamorati, Nicole Weaver, Ashley Rackliff, and Lacy Massengale running a leg.
Nikki Leeman placed fifth in the KVAC 400 in 1:05.1 and eighth in the 200 in 29.14 for Lincoln Academy. Sara Komorowski placed sixth in the 300 hurdles in 53.78. Haley Peavey was eighth in the 300 hurdles in 54.97 and 10th in the 100 hurdles in 18.61. Lincoln girls placed fourth in the 4×400 in 4:38.
Patrick O’Donnell placed third in the 800 in 2:05. Josh Parmenter was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 45.09. Alex MacKenzie placed sixth in the high jump (5’4″), sixth in the triple jump (36’10”) and eighth in the long jump (16’11.5″).
Medomak boys placed eighth in the 4×800, and 4×100, and ninth in the 4×400 relays.
Lincoln Academy boys placed seventh in the 4×400 relay. Jian Giglia placed ninth in the 400 in 55.45.
