Maranacook boys soccer defended their home turf under the lights in Readfield Wednesday night for a 6-0 win over Wiscasset in a West Class C quarter-final match-up. The physical game got out of hand in the second half when Black Bear Codey Solmitz mauled Wolverine Mason Whitaker and threw him to the ground and punched him. Bryson Grover, the smallest guy on the field, came to Whitaker’s aid and was knocked to the ground, and was ejected after the confrontation. Wiscasset goal keeper Dylan McMahon came to his teammate’s aid and he and Maranacook’s Solmitz received yellow cards on the scuffle.
