Lincoln County deer tag totals hit a new low this year, with only 491 deer tagged at local tagging stations, with only four days left in the muzzle loading season. This year’s totals are less than half of the 999 tagged in 1999, and is the lowest in the 15 years The Lincoln County News has kept a tally.
Scott Poland tagged the biggest buck in the county at King Ro Market in Round Pond. Poland’s buck weighed in at 250 pounds and had 11 points.
Alna Store tagged 97 deer, up 10 from last year. David Lyons shot a 9 point 210 pound buck, Mike Averill (210, 9 point), Terrell Egerton (210, 8 point), Dean Krah (210, 10 point), and Francis Pinette Jr. (200, 8 point).
King Ro Market in Round Pond tagged 66 deer, up six from 2009, including Poland’s who leads the big buck club. Also tagging big deer were Walter Fossett (210, 6 point), Doug McLain (195, 9 point with an incredible rack), and Cleveland Prior (188, 19 points).
Dresden Takeout tagged 41 deer, down from 54 last year.
Hanley’s Market in Bristol tagged 37 deer, down from 50 a year ago, including two over 200 pounds, Dave Huntley (206) and Eric Leeman (208).
All Seasons Automotive in Jefferson tagged 23, up from 19 last year, including two over 200 pounds, Darryl Flagg (215) and Randy Gargon (205).
Louis Doe Home Center in Newcastle tagged 45, up from 11 in 2009.
Village Store in Nobleboro tagged 74, up from 57 last year.
New tagging station Country Corners in Whitefield (replaced North Whitefield Superette) tagged 48 deer, including three over 200 pounds, Randy Northrup (207), Joshua Bechard (210) and Matt Northrup (242).
New tagging station Goodnow’s Variety in Waldoboro (replaced Bear Hill Hardware) tagged 30 deer.
Meeting House Market in Dresden tagged 30 deer.
