The Bobtails won the Waldoboro Little League softball championship on Saturday, beating the Diamondbacks 8-6. Walks and passed balls were the name of the game.
The Diamondbacks tied the score at 6-6 in the top of the 4th inning on a RBI single from Erika Simmons. Laura Dyer walked for the Bobtails in the 5th inning, moved over on a Vanessa Rancourt single and scored the winning run on a passed ball. Rancourt had an RBI in the 3rd for the Bobcats when she reached on a fielder’s choice.
Bobtail catcher Hannah Osier made two big defensive plays in the top of the 4th when she threw out Jewel Dorian at first, then caught a pop-fly at the fence to stifle the Diamondbacks rally.
