Boothbay boys’ cross country team won the Mt.Valley Conference cross-country championships at UMA in Augusta on Saturday morning under sunny but cold and windy conditions. Boothbay placed five scoring runners in the top 16 to score 40 points to beat out Lisbon 68, Monmouth 88, Hall-Dale 118, Telstar 146, St. Dom’s 158, Winthrop 165, Madison 182, and Carrabec 182. Wiscasset and Dirigo did not have enough runners to compete as a team.
Chase Brown led the Seahawks with a second place finish in 17:33. Madison’s Matt McClintock was the race winner in 17:04. Matt Forgues was sixth in 18:43, Nate Schwehm seventh in 18:43, Tom Brown ninth in 18:58, and Wendell Thayer 17th in 19:17 to complete Boothbay’s scoring five.
Also running for Boothbay were 26. Stephen Barter, 19:57; 29. Nick James, 20:14; 41. Sam Schwehm, 21:15; 44. Cameron White, 21:29; 46. Wyatt Anthony, 21:41; 47. Jonah Baum, 21:42; 50. Alex Owen, 21:51; 66. Dan Murray, 23:47; 70. Kade Smith, 25:01; and 71. Garrett Boivin, 25:45.
Wiscasset had just four runners competing, led by Brad Whitaker who placed 15th in a time of 19:16. Gage Mumbower was 42nd in 21:20; Joe Chapman 53rd in 22:33; and Ryan Urquhart 54th in 22:45.
Wiscasset’s Heidi Pinkham finished 11th in 24:21, Crysta Brown placed 29th in 26:52, and Alyssa Urquhart 39th in 33:14.
