Boothbay Region High School were crowned 2009 boys’ State Class C cross country champions on Saturday at Twin Brook Recreation in Cumberland. The Seahawks placed third in the West C Regionals with five runners on Oct. 31 to qualify for the state meet.
Boothbay competed with a full team in the state championships. The Seahawks placed five scoring runners in the top 25.
Chase Brown led the Seahawks with a second place finish in 17:03. Madison’s Matthew McClintock was the race winner in 16:54. Matt Forgues placed 14th in 18:17, Wendall Thayer 18th in 18:26, Tom Brown 22nd in 18:34, and Nate Schwehm 25th in 18:44 to complete the scoring five. Also running for Boothbay were 52. Nick James, 19:47, and 56. Stephen Barter in 19:55.
