Boothbay Region High School hosted the Mt.Valley Conference championships Friday night, featuring the Lady Seahawks against Dirigo, and Boothbay boys against Winthrop.
Boothbay girls defeated Dirigo 38-37 when Morgan Crocker drove inside with eight seconds left to score the game winner. Crocker led the Seahawks with 13, Page Brown added 10, Cagney O’Bren 8, Sara Durgan 3, Kate Friant 2 and Nicole Clark 2. Scoring for Dirigo were Lauren Henderson 13, Jessica Conant 11, Emma Lueders 4, Kelsey Hutchins 4, Sabrina Daoud 3, and Kaicey Conant 2.
Winthrop upset top ranked Boothbay in the boys championship game, 51-37. The Ramblers were led by Matt Sekerak with 18 (4-3’s), Ben Allen 11, Jacob Hickey 7, Dakota Carter 7, Taylor Morang 4 and Anthony Owens 4. Scoring for Boothbay were Evan Hepburn 11, John Hepburn 11, Abel Bryer 6, Julian Aponte 5, Nick Gorey 2 and Joseph D’Mauro 2.
