Former State Class B wrestling champion Shawn St. Cyr is coaching Pre-K through eighth grade wrestling for Central Lincoln Area Wrestling once again this season. The program is sponsored by the Jefferson Sports Association.
Practices are held every Tuesday in the Lincoln Academy fitness center from 4-5 p.m. In February, practices will also be held at the Jefferson Village School. Wrestlers can attend one or both practices. If there is no school, there will be no practice.
Wrestlers are encouraged to attend tournaments with the team on Saturdays and Sundays. Fun nights will also be held in February at various local schools.
Singlets, head gear and wrestling shoes are not required but are highly recommended. No zippers or hoods are allowed.
The cost is $30 for JSA members, and $45 for non-members ($30 wrestling fee plus $15 JSA membership).
Basic skills will be taught, and wrestlers will engage in live wrestling situations. Wrestlers will be properly supervised and be matched up according to age, weight and ability. A guardian or responsible adult should be present at each practice.
