Camden Hills beat the Eagles 47-37 in the championship game of the Lincoln Academy seventh and eighth grade boys basketball tournament on Wednesday, March 4 in Newcastle.
The Windjammers led 9-6 after the first quarter, 20-18 at the half, and 31-26 at the third quarter break. The Eagles closed the gap to 35-33 with four minutes remaining, but Camden Hills went on an eight-point run to put the game out of reach.
David Osier scored 17 points to lead the Eagles. Also scoring for LA were Luke Grady and Gavin Griffin 6 apiece, Ben Chapman 4, and Jasper Bryant and Michael Pinkham 2 each.
Collin Fitzpatrick, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, scored 16 points to lead the Windjammers.
Joining Fitzpatrick on the all tournament team were Ace Lailer (Medomak), Osier Academy), (Boothbay), (Boothbay), Jayden Isaiah Michael (Lincoln Copeland Bates Pinkham (Lincoln Academy), and Everitt Dugal (Camden).
The Camden trio of Fitzpatrick, Dugal, and J. Jackson won the 3 point shooting contest.
Medomak 51 – Boothbay 46
Medomak beat Boothbay 51-46 in the consolation game. Medomak led the Seahawks 21-19 at halftime.
The Panthers had a balanced offensive attack as all nine players on the roster tallied points. Gavin Burns was the top scorer for Medomak with 8, followed by Ace Lailer 7, Mason Pitts, Esa Kahn, and Kaiden Smith 6 each, Elijah Morse, Austin Anderson, and Brayden McNelly 5 apiece, and Cameron Staples 3.
Scoring for Boothbay were Jayden Copeland 15, Isaiah Bates 10, Hodgdon 8, Wenners 5, Peters, and Baker 3 each, and Barter 2.
LA 51 – Boothbay 33
The Eagles defeated Boothbay 51-33 in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday, March 3 in Newcastle. Lincoln took command of the game early, jumping out to a 13-7 lead after the first quarter and an insurmountable 31-11 advantage at the half.
Eight different Eagles scored in the game, including Ben Chapman 13, David Osier 8, Michael Pinkham 7, Wylder Hanley, Gavin Griffin and Luke Grady 6 each, Jasper Bryant 4, and Sterling McKernan 1.
Jayden Copeland was the top scorer for Boothbay with 22 points followed by Harris 6 and Isaiah Bates 5.
Camden Hills 61 – Medomak 37
Camden Hills came from behind to beat Medomak 61-37 in the first round of the tournament.
Medomak established a 14-11 lead after the first quarter, but the Windjammers came storming back and sailed to a lopsided victory. Camden surged to a 28-22 lead at halftime and then outscored the Panthers 23-13 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Ace Lailer led Medomak with 27 points. Also scoring for the Panthers were Gavin Burns 5, Cameron Staples 4, and Elijah Moore 1.
Everett Dugal led the Windjammers with 30 points.
