In the Reunion Station Fairway Restaurant there was Warren Waltz high above, painting a large ceiling beam.
After questioning Pete Farrell about his ’60s UFO experience, (do ask him about it) I left with Bob Sutton for the sixth tee where we raked. At one point I could barely see Bob through the swarm of black flies, a reminder of the very funny article in The Lincoln County News about these tiny marauders.
We raced to the car for a dose of bug spray which we applied liberally only to realize it was a can of Raid (“can be harmful to humans”) instead of the Deep Woods Off spray. After a careful wash up, we applied some of the right stuff and finished working at the second and 11th tees.
Everyone was glad to see Geri McIlroy, who had returned from Las Vegas looking fit, rested and ready for another year in the Pro Shop.
