CLC YMCA gymnasts brought home the bling at the Maine YMCA Gymnastics Pine Tree League championships, held at the Lewiston Armory. The medals around the young gymnasts necks clinked like a string of sleigh bells and could be heard across the great expanse of the Y building during a recent photo op.
Ribbons with medals were awarded to the top 50 percent in each division, and trophies were awarded to the top 50 percent in all-around competition. The Level 3 team placed second, and the Level 4 team placed third. There were over 389 participants from eight YMCA teams.
“Everyone competed really, really well. We got many fine results. We now look forward to the challenge of Regional competition,” coach Janice Cormier-Hay said. The Regional meet will be held May 15 to 17 at the University of Mass., Amherst. Three quarters of the CLC gymnasts qualified for the New England Regionals (had to qualify twice).
