It was another dismal year for Lincoln County deer hunters. There were 533 deer tagged at county tagging stations, slightly higher than 2007’s low of 521. The deer tag totals were well off the 2002 high of 1,016. The LCN has been recording tag totals for the past 13 years, starting in 1995.
Alna Store tagged 87, up from 63 last year. McKenzie Murray tagged the biggest buck at 205 lbs. and Mike Averill bagged a 200 lbs. five point buck.
King Ro Market, Round Pond, tagged 60, up from 53 a year ago. Chris Herald leads the big buck club with a 215 pound 3 pointer. Dave’s AG in Boothbay tagged 55, down from 63 in 2007.
Dresden Texaco tagged 54, up from 42 last year.
Hanley’s Market in Bristol tagged 50 up from 35 last year. Kenny Brewer tagged the biggest buck at 210 pounds.
All Season Automotive in Jefferson tagged 19, up six from last year, but well off the 58 tagged in 1999. Louis Doe Inc, Newcastle, tagged 11, up from six last year. The Nobleboro Village Store tagged 57, one less than last year.
The North Whitefield Superette tagged 58, down from 78 last year and their all time low in the past 13 years. Fred Woodbury tagged the biggest buck at 190
Wiscasset did not have a tagging station this year, as Country Cabin closed down before the start of the hunting season.
Bear Hill Hardware tagged 35, down one from last year, and a new low. Chad Reed tagged the biggest buck at 208. Lori’s Island Convenience Store on Westport Island could not be reached for tag totals. Meetinghouse Market in Dresden is a new tagging station this year, and tagged 47.
