Medomak Valley junior Nicholas DePatsy broke the Panthers’ single game boys basketball scoring record, set by Alan Baron in 1975. DePatsy tied Baron’s record of 45 with his seventh 3-pointer of the night, then broke the record on a lay-up and finished off the three point play at the foul line to bring his tally to 48.
DePatsy tied Baron’s record of most field goals scored in a game at 18.
DePatsy’s record breaking performance was the highlight of the lopsided game that saw Medomak crush Belfast 87-27 in the KVAC home opener. The Panthers jumped out to a 27-2 first quarter lead, led by DePatsy with 19. They led 56-13 at the half and 77-16 at the end of three. DePatsy netted 33 points in the first half.
Scoring for Medomak were DePatsy 48 (4R,2S), Zach Starr 14 (4S), Micah Williamson 8 (4R,2S), Colton Spear 6 (3R,2S), Cameron Allaire 4, Tyler Emerson 4 (3R), Cale Gee 2, and Jon Allard 1. Scoring for Belfast were Rory Ambrose 6, Flo Rueger 5, Levi Lapham 4, Garrett Hamlin 4, Zeke Ventura 3, Stan Sturgis 2, Nolan Woods 2, and Jordan Bickford 1.
