The Storer Lumber Diamondbacks defeated the Dow Furniture Fillies 9-0 on Saturday to win the Waldoboro Little League softball championship. Lydia Simmons pitched a no hit shutout in the win (9K,5B). Gabby DePatsy took the loss (6H,0K,6B).
The Diamondbacks scored two runs in the first on walks to Maddie White and Addie Jameson and a Simmons single. They added two runs in the third. White reached on an error and Jameson walked and both scored, powered by a Simmons’ double.
The Diamondbacks opened up a 6-0 lead with two runs in the fourth scored by Mikayla Wallace and Paige Powell, with Steph Morse picking up an RBI. They added three runs in the bottom of the fifth. White reached on an error, and with two outs, Simmons and Hannah Prock hit singles, Wallace and Powell walked, and Morse hit a single.
Hitting for the Diamondbacks were Simmons with a double and two singles, Morse two singles and Prock one. White scored three runs, A. Jameson two and Simmons, Prock, Wallace, and Powell one each.
